Here, the ordinary meets the extraordinary, most notably through their signature Winter Melon Steamboat, a dish that redefines the steamboat experience.
As you step through the doors of Low Maji, you're greeted by a distinct sight: large winter melons stacked majestically at the entrance, signaling that you are about to embark on a gastronomic journey unlike any other. The ritual begins with the winter melon being expertly halved and carved, serving not just as the vessel but as an integral part of your meal. The aroma of the herbal broth envelops you the moment the lid is lifted, an invitation to dive into a steamboat experience that truly captivates the senses.
What sets this restaurant apart, according to Rebecca W., one of the many satisfied patrons, is how the steamboat evolves during your meal. Initially light, the broth transforms as it mingles with an array of fresh ingredients, becoming richer and more flavorful with each passing round. This dynamic aspect of the dish is brilliantly showcased as you enjoy a medley of meat and vegetables, all while the staff expertly assist in carving out the tender, infused flesh of the winter melon, enhancing the overall flavor profile.
Another highlight of the Low Maji experience is the extensive selection of more than 10 unique sauces and condiments available for customizing your dipping sauce. This level of personalization ensures that each bite is tailored to your palate, whether you prefer something spicy, savory, or a mix of both.
If you have a penchant for steamboat and are not deterred by a bit of heat, low Maji is an essential stop on your culinary tour. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time to secure your spot in this popular establishment, where the delightful fusion of flavors and exceptional service will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
“ Steamboat is very common, but have you ever came across a steamboat that's made of winter melon? Knew it! There's a very famous and special steamboat restaurant in Puchong named Low Maji, and their signature would be the Winter Melon Steamboat. It's a MUST to make reservation for this place! We were being seated right towards to end even with our early reservations. The moment we stepped into the restaurant, I noticed huge winter melons were being pilled up at the entrance. Without second though, we opted for the Winter Melon Steamboat a.k.a Dong Gua Zhong Steamboat. The winter melon was cut into half (or probably more than half) and each of them were carved with a number. We ordered the set which have the similar ingredients of your usual steamboat. The aromatic herbal soup hits our face the moment we opened the lid of the winter melon and we couldn't wait to add in all the ingredients. Initially, the soup was light but it gets more flavourful and sweeter after cooking it a few rounds with all the meat and vegetables. Halfway through our dinner, the staff came and assist us in cutting out all the meat inside the winter melon. Apart from this, the other attracting point would be the sauces. They offer more than 10 condiments and sauces for you to customized your dipping sauce. If you like steamboat and don't mind the heat, you really should try out this place. Just remember, make your reservation before going - no matter how many pax you have. ”
